Zamek Krzyżacki w Olsztynku

Zamek Krzyżacki w Olsztynku, wzniesiony w latach 1349–1366 na polecenie komtura ostródzkiego Güntera von Hohensteina, jest przykładem gotyckiej architektury. Budowla została zaprojektowana jako siedziba burgrabiego odpowiedzialnego za ściąganie podatków i kontrolowanie szlaku handlowego.

Zamek, zlokalizowany na miejscu pruskiego grodu, posiadał plan czworokąta, wieżę i mury obwodowe, a także piwnice. Po zdobyciu w 1410 roku przez mieszczan, został przekazany Władysławowi II Jagielle. W XVI wieku pełnił funkcję arsenału, a w XVIII popadł w ruinę. W latach 1847–1849 przekształcono go w gimnazjum, a po II wojnie światowej częściowo zachowane fragmenty zamku zostały włączone do budynku szkolnego. Dziś mieści się tu Zespół Szkół im. Krzysztofa Celestyna Mrongowiusza.
